Thanks for Your Interest in Being a Guest on the High Performance Leadership Podcast!
This podcast focuses on leadership by gleaning tips, tricks, and experiences from experts like yourself! We’re most interested in organizational leadership (like challenges you overcame in your business, or lessons you learned through experience) but we’re also open to talking more generally about personal leadership or leadership theory.
We don’t have a set list of questions we ask, but they generally revolve around your experience and lessons you’ve learned. Here are some good questions to get you in the right mindset:
- What company have I owned/worked in that functioned really well? What were some of the common characteristics?
- What company have I owned/worked in that was dysfunctional? What were some of those common characteristics?
Obviously, we’re not asking you to name specific companies if that’s uncomfortable.
We usually chat for around an hour and then pick and choose the best parts in the show. Please make sure you block off an hour for our talk.

Technical Setup
We can interview you in a couple of different formats. Our preferred method is in our studio in Waco, Texas, but aside from that we use a video conferencing service called Zoom. Once we’ve nailed down a time to record, we’ll send you a calendar invite that includes all the details needed to join the conference.
Here are a few technical tips:
- Make sure your interview connection is solid
- In Zoom, under Preferences > Audio make sure the "Automatically adjust microphone settings" box is UNchecked.
- The built-in mic on your computer will work, but the sound is exponentially better using an external mic. We recommend the ATR-2100, but even the earbuds that come with iPhones will increase quality.
- Make sure you find a quiet room.
- Find a room with soft surfaces (drapes, carpet). Rooms with lots of hard surfaces will have an echo.
We like to do interviews on video even though we rarely use the entire video. It’s used primarily for promotional purposes, so we recommend the following:
- Make sure your web cam is roughly eye level. If you’re using a laptop, try propping it up on something.
- Make sure there’s nothing distracting or cluttered looking behind you in the video.
- Make sure all light sources are in front of you. Bright lights like windows behind you will degrade the quality of the video.
